Whether building specialty lighting systems for National Geographic sponsored projects or providing crucial lighting for productions on Japan's powerhouse entity NHK, Halcyon can increasingly be found center stage with our innovative HID and HMI Apollo Video Lighting Systems.
Halcyon's Apollo HID and halogen video systems provide highly portable yet powerful lighting for video professional and enthusiast alike. Our lighting systems are widely recognized among recreational divers, technical explorers, and professional videographers for their robust construction and ingenious system integration. Halcyon can custom fit dual light heads to any camera enclosure.
Apollo Video Lighting
The Apollo Video System is Halcyon's most flexible video system, allowing a wide range of Halcyon light heads to be mated with a variety of compact NiMH battery packs. Designed as a hip mounted system, the Apollo sytem is one of the most anticipated developments in underwater videography.
The Apollo systems have been redesigned to incorporate all of the components found in Halcyon's Explorer systems.

The 50watt head burns at 5,600K and appear equivalent to approximately 200watts of halogen lighting while still allowing generous burn times.
When mated with twin 50watt HID light heads the Apollo 13.5 generates a radiant supply of light that lasts for 65 minutes. The dual 50watt HIDs are a perfect lighting system for professional use or for the diver that is unwilling to accept compromise. Serious video divers can opt to run twin 50watt HIDs on their camera while fitting diving models with a single 50watt light head. Professionals often use the twin 50's in concert with 200watt HMI lights that produce amazing clarity and depth of field.
E/O Quick-Disconnect Cords
It is possible to outfit all Halcyon lights with cords that can be plugged and unplugged while under water. This would allow a diver to run a video light system and then unplug the video head, plugging it into a normal Goodman style light head for regular diving. Unless divers have a specific need to switch among these options, the underwater cord increases the potential failure points by introducing an area that may not provide consistent current. With HID lights a brief interruption of current will casue cause them to cease functioning until the diver switches the light to the off position, lets the HID ballast reset for at least five seconds, and turns the light back on.
Halcyon Apollo HID video lighting systems come standard with the following features: temperature-resistant Delrin light heads with hardcoated aluminum handles; commercial grade strain reliefs to reduce light cord stress; superior quality rechargeable NiMH batteries; triple fold belt loop attachment; and automatic charger with charge light indicator.
Apollo Video Systems also come with our solid Delrin canister and stainless steel fittings.
